Prof. Boleslaw Szymanski moderated a panel at the First International Workshop on Social Sensing at the IEEE International Conference on Mobile Ad hoc and Sensor Systems in Dallas, TX

On October 19, 2015 the Center Director, Prof. Szymanski moderated a panel at the The First International Workshop on Social Sensing at the 12th IEEE International Conference on Mobile Adhoc and Sensor Systems, held in Dallas, TX, USA. The panel addressed the following challenges/questions: (i) what are the basic social and cognitive challenges in Social Sensing, (ii) in what way are cognitive and social challenges and sensing challenges intertwined in the context of social sensing, or are they perfectly separable?, (iii) what kind of experimentation (passive collection of the data from ongoing activities, humans playing virtual reality games, human-in-the-loop real-life experiments) data sets are crucial to move the Social Sensing forward? (iv) how to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration between sensing, networking, social and cognitive researchers?
