Dr. Boleslaw Szymanski is Opening Session Speaker at the Future Internet Assembly

Professor Boleslaw Szymanski was a plenary opening session speaker at the Future Internet Assembly in Poznan, Poland on October 25, 2011, together with Megan Richards, Director in Information Society and Media DG of European Commission and Johnathan Cave, RAND Europe.  Professor Szymanski's talk was on "Internet-enabled Social Transformation: Social Networks, Crowd-Sourcing and Opinion Formation."

The European Future Internet Assembly (FIA), is a collaboration between projects focusing on European activities on the Future Internet to maintain European competitiveness in the global marketplace.  FIA events are organized twice a year as a conference where people from different research domains meet each other and discuss cross cutting research results and trends in an interactive manner and is opened by the leading representative from the government, academia, and industry.

Currently FIA brings together around 150 research projects in such areas as: the network of the future, cloud computing, Internet of services and advanced software engineering, Internet-connected objects, trustworthy ICT, networked media and search systems, socio-economic considerations for the future Internet, application domains for the future Internet, future Internet research and experimentation.
